1965 Lexington ”Urban Renewal” and the Women of MLKjr Neighborhood
Public Group active 9 years, 10 months agoThis group is focusing on the 1965 urban renewal project that was rejected by the Martin Luther King Jr. Neighborhood Association. We plan to research the issues surrounding this action and the role of women in this decision. Why was the plan rejected? How did it affect the community? Who was in favor of it? Against it? Did the decision result from or impact civil rights issues of the day? Who were the women involved and did the neighborhood’s civic leaders expect a certain role for them to play in the process?
