  • UK Libraries’ Research Guides  The research guides provide useful resources for the subject area in which you are working.  This link will take you to the entire subject list.  Below are a few research guides specific to the civil rights era and Kentucky women.  If you are new to using primary sources, there also is a research guide to help get you started.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            
  • Civil Rights in Kentucky – Oral Histories  This link is a research guide to primary sources in UK Libraries Special Collections.  Subjects in the research guide include: Activism, Gender, Housing, Segregation, Integration, Education, and many more.  The link is navigational to other sources, so don’t miss out!
  • Marquis Who’s Who Biography Online  This database features comprehensive profiles of many accomplished individuals from all fields of endeavor including: government, business, science and technology, the arts, entertainment, and sports.  A search can also be made using a date of birth, gender, geographic location, occupation/profession/hobby, political orientation, or religion.
  • ProQuest Dissertation and Theses  This link is a search of dissertations and theses using “civil rights era” AND “women” AND “Kentucky” to find scholarly work already done.  A dissertation or thesis is a secondary source, but the author’s bibliography page will serve most useful in providing all primary sources they used to do their research.  Feel free to do your own key word search!
  • News Bank is a database for searching newspapers worldwide.  A search can easily be refined to a Continent, Country, State, or specific newspaper.
